I first got into teaching in the late 1990’s; initially running arts activities at National Trust properties. Later I then spent eight years as an artist in residence at a school in Derby. A big inner-city junior school, with a massive mix of multi-cultural kids; many who couldn’t speak English. It wasn’t always easy, but it was here where I really learnt and I’m hugely grateful for having this experience. Since those early days, my teaching has taken me to many different venues across the UK. I’ve taught in Nursery, Infant, Junior & Secondary schools. I’ve taught courses at Adult Education centres. Delivered art sessions at Universities, Family Centres, Museums & Youth Clubs. I’ve taken art activities into Residential Homes for the elderly. Delivered teacher-training sessions in Primary schools. I’ve worked in Special Schools and have experience working with people with mental & physical disabilities too.
Teaching for me has always felt like a privilege. To be able to share my skills and my passion with others is always a pleasure.

In light of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, when most of my teaching work got cancelled or postponed, I began posting a few arty creative video tutorials on YouTube. I also started to shift some of my teaching work online.
